Castle Hill Theatre Company

Castle Hill Theatre Company (CHTC) was founded in 2006 to increase the quantity and quality of family theatre productions in the Berkshires and the surrounding areas. Although our productions originate in Great Barrington, MA, they ultimately travel throughout the Northeast. Using magical sets, beautiful costumes and professional actors, CHTC adapts stories from the classics, fairy tales and myths and recreates these familiar stories in new and different ways.

CHTC’s mission is to delight audiences of all ages, while at the same time, imparting important social values such as acceptance, loyalty, hard work and kindness. At the end of each show the actors talk to the children about their characters and the play while signing autographs.

In a time when so many children are spending time alone in front of the television, computer or videogames, it is the goal of CHTC to present live performances that will invite discussion with family and friends afterwards. It was the noted psychologist Carl Jung's belief that fairy tales are archetypal and universal and therefore instruct us all in life's many lessons. It is our hope that our productions will foster the imagination of young and old and reach audiences on many different levels.

"In just a few short years, this family theater company has made a name for itself with a succession of innovative and engaging plays that present an original take on familiar and classic tales from "Puss in Boots" to "Tatterhood". Silly songs, colorful sets, fanciful costumes and acting that swings from exuberant to thoughtful are hallmarks of it's enduring style of theater."      Berkshire Week, July 10, 2008
