Castle Hill Theatre Company (CHTC) was founded by Nicki Wilson in the winter of 2006 to increase the quantity and quality of family theatre productions in the Berkshires and the surrounding areas. With an abundance of top-notch theatre companies catering to adult audiences, it seemed to Ms. Wilson that the only thing the Berkshires was missing was a professional family theatre company.

Using magical sets, beautiful costumes and professional actors, CHTC adapts stories from the classics and well-known fairy tales and myths. At the end of each show the actors spend time talking with the children about their characters and the story. Sometimes these "after the play discussions" can last up to 45 minutes with the children wanting to sit on a throne, touch a crown or ask a thoughtful question.

In a time when so many children are spending time alone in front of the television, computer or videogames, it is the goal of CHTC to present live performances that will invite discussion with family and friends afterwards. It was the noted psychologist Carl Jung's belief that fairy tales are archetypal and universal and therefore instruct us all in life's many lessons. It is our hope that our productions will foster the imagination of young and old and reach audiences on many different levels.

CHTC's 2008-2009 season will present original adaptations of the classic fairy-tale Jack and the Beanstalk in the summer of 2008, Rudyard Kipling's literary classic the Just So stories in the fall of 2008 and Little Red Riding Hood in the spring of 2009. Although our productions originate in Great Barrington, MA, they ultimately travel throughout the Berkshires and surrounding areas - much like the troubadours of old.

We hope you can be supportive of our endeavors by watching the plays and spreading the word about our theatre company. We also welcome volunteer work behind the scenes in most any capacity, as well as financial contributions. In the meantime, we sincerely hope you all enjoy the show!
